My main problem with factions are the quests and missions.. gee that's pretty much everything. Why are there so many back and forth quests? I like the fast lvling to lvl 20 but why do we get so many quests after that for experience? All my chars have like 60+ skill points and not enough money to use them all. So many things in factions have me saying, what the heck were they thinking? text windows that pop up and block your screen.. nice idea that doesn't annoy me at all.

Good ol prophecies.. no way the same people who made that game made factions. Nightfall I barely wanna think about, but of course your going to need it or be at a disadvantage.

are u talking about assassins? when did they find a great use for assassins in PVP?
A lot of top guilds - mainly the Korean ones, from what I understand - are running assassins as independent NPC-gankers in GVG. Heck, Evil's been running one for a few weeks now. Assassins have clear and effective roles in PVP, it's their PVE usefulness that's in question.*

Back on topic, I find a certain argument against Factions rather frustrating: the one from experienced Guild Wars players who complain that playing through Factions wasn't as fun as playing through Prophecies the first time. Hello, you've been playing Guild Wars for a year! You're intimately familiar with the engine and have a good grasp of which skills are effective and which are rubbish! Of course playing a second game on the same engine is going to feel like more of the same!

(This goes for the "I beat Factions in two days" crowd, too. In case you haven't noticed, a lot of Factions-only players have complained that it's - if anything - too hard and involved )

Personally, I started Prophecies in January of this year, so I didn't have time to become jaded by it... Or for the original experience to mellow into a nostalgic golden age before I started playing Factions! My score? Beginning in Factions wins by a hair - they've learnt from some of Prophecies' rough edges and improved both the interest factor and the teaching tools.

luxor9, you can switch the popups off (I did that within two minutes of starting Factions), and the Fed-Ex quests drop off significantly once you get out of Kaineng City.

...And the availability of most skills + points to use them right from the start is possibly Factions best change - it's the only one I'll be genuinely upset if they reverse in Nightfall.

*A good assassin is nice to have on a team, but that's a function of the player's competence and not the class' inherent worth. A good anything is nice to have on a team!
